How to measure your horse for a BUCAS rug

To allow your horse to benefit from the optimal comfort and protection he deserves it is important to choose the most appropriated sheet size.

When you choose a Bucas sheet, you must take into consideration two factors:

  • The robustness of the horse, so the size covers what it needs
  • The temperature range for which the coverage you choose is the most suitable

how to measure your horse BUCAS

The following instructions describe a step-by-step approach to measuring your horse so that a Bucas sheet is fully adjusted, comfortable and facilitates your horse's freedom of movement.

It is better to take a slightly larger size rather than a smaller one.

Note that it is the measure A - B of the horse that determines the size to choose.

Bucas recommends that the horse must be measured from (A) the central point of the chest passing through the high point of the shoulder, then from (B)  the back of the posterior leg. When you have the measure, choose the size that is most suited in the chart below.
